Charity
The Guangzhou Women’s International Club (GWIC) has a charity component which is very hands on. Throughout the year we identify projects, direct fundraising and oversee a project’s completion to make a difference in the community around Guangdong province and other parts of China.
GWIC Charity gives priority to young people and children. For the years 2009-2013 we have worked closely with a number of charity organisations particularly GETCH (Guangzhou English Training Centre for the Handicapped), Huiling, True Children’s Home, Good Rock Foundation, LOVEQTRA (Love Qinghai Tibet Rescue Aid), Life Destiny, Wise Love and Guangdong Social Service Center.
Through our bi-annual shoe sale, holiday bazaar, ticket sales during GWIC social events and direct donations, we are able to raise funds to enable GWIC to support the above organisations. We also have a donations corner during the monthly morning coffee and afternoon tea for items like clothes, blankets, toys, baby items, diapers, toiletries and other useful articles.
GWIC’s monthly Gazette publishes regular features of all charity events, updates and activities.
